Abuja, Nigeria — Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has held a closed-door discussion with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. The meeting marks the first face-to-face encounter between the two leaders since the President’s intervention ended the state of emergency in Rivers.
Fubara, who recently resumed office, told State House correspondents that his visit was to formally inform the President of his return and to seek guidance. He described the discussion as a “father-son” conversation, a move signaling a desire for a peaceful and unified political future in the state.
A Vow to End Crisis
When asked about the future, Fubara said, “It was about thanking him and seeking his guidance in areas where issues could arise, so we don’t find ourselves in another crisis.” He assured the media that peace was not fragile and that he and his “principal” were now working together.
The visit underscores the ongoing efforts to ensure stability and continued development in Rivers State, with a clear focus on preventing any recurrence of the recent political turbulence.
