A two time member of the Rivers State House of Assembly, and 2014/ 2015 Governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, PCS. Chief Hon. Michael Ibinabo West, Dss (BCS), has dumped the party.
West, who served as Commissioner in the Nyesom Wike administration, in a letter dated November 24,and captioned letter of resignation of my membership of the PDP, said his decision was based on gross relegation and humiliation..
The letter which was received by the Ward Chairman, Ebenezer Kio,and a copy made available to Africa Update reads in part: “I write to formally notify you and my ward of the resignation of my membership of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP). This became necessary because I have noticed with dismay, that when it is time for elections, I am usually remembered and cheered on to go and take and defend bullets of opposition and deliver victory to the party. Immediately after election, I am relegated to the background and irrelevance, even in my own ward.
“Take an example, among many, the formation of the last ward executive which the leader of the party in the state directed that only the leaders of the wards should participate. This ward still went ahead and constituted the executive with a list drawn by persons outside the Ward without any reference to me.I was not only sidelined but my input was blatantly ignored.
“I regret to inform you that I can not continue to endure this type of repeated relegation and humiliation. I have therefore, resigned from the party to move on with my life”.
