Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara has hailed Rivers women to commemorate International Women’s Day today, March 8, 2023.
In a message to the women, Sir Fubara said women have become the pillars of society following their enormous contributions to the family in particular and the society at large, stressing that in recent times their voices have become very loud in the socio-economic and political spaces all over the world.
According to him, “our women are dogged and resilient in seeing to the progress of the society, especially in building families as well as in contributing their quota to the socio-economic betterment of the society.”
“We are very proud of them, especially here in Rivers state where they are eking a living, making impacts and contributing to our collective history, even in our political space,” he noted.
Sir Fubara said he completely agrees with the International Women’s Day 2023 missions of helping to forge a gender-equal world, celebrating women’s achievements and increasing visibility, while calling out inequality. He pointed out that Rivers state is already gender sensitive by practising the tenets of that mission as women are being encouraged to take key political positions whether elective or in appointive capacity.
The PDP gubernatorial candidate while felicitating with them urged the women in the state to remain resolute and committed to the cause of consolidating development in Rivers state as major stakeholders to put the state on the path of greater accomplishments for the prosperity of all.
