Four Julius Berger Staff shot during protest in Rivers State

Four men working with German construction giant, Julius Berger Nigeria PLC, are now battling for their lives, at Teerabor general hospital, as a result of wounds sustained during a peaceful protest in Gokana Local Government Area in Rivers State.

Africa Update gathered from sources that the men who are working on the Bonny/Bodo NLNG project were reportedly shot by trigger happy Policemen attached to the Bori Area Command of the Nigerian Police Force .

Eye witnesses narrated that trouble started when the policemen allegedly shot sporadically to disperse some staff of Julius Berger who were protesting over poor remuneration packages and these men were unfortunately struck by the bullets.
