Former PHALGA Mayor distributes Festive Largesse, reaffirms Loyalty to Governor Fubara

In a notable display of communal spirit and political cohesion, the former Chairman of the Port Harcourt City Local Government Area (PHALGA), Ichemati Ezebunwo, convened a high-level meeting earlier today to celebrate the Yuletide season and reinforce the area’s commitment to the administration of Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS.

The gathering, presided over by the former Chairman, brought together the immediate past Deputy Mayor, the Honourable Mrs Wendy Tim-Kalio, and the former Councillors with whom Mr Ezebunwo shared the privilege of governance. The assembly served as both a festive celebration and a strategic reaffirmation of the “unflinching support” rendered to the Governor of Rivers State.

During the proceedings, Mr Ezebunwo expressed his profound gratitude to his former colleagues for their steadfastness during a transformative period in the state’s political history. In a spirited response, the former Councillors and the Deputy Mayor reaffirmed their “unwavering commitment” to the Governor’s recent executive decisions.

Chief among these is the Governor’s high-profile transition to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and his endorsed support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR. This unified stance underscores a significant consolidation of political will within the capital city as the state navigates a reshuffled partisan landscape.

As a tangible token of appreciation and a gesture of solidarity, the former Chairman presented the officials with a traditional assortment of Yuletide gifts, including bags of rice, livestock, and monetary grants. Such acts of patronage, traditional during the Nigerian festive season, are viewed as essential for maintaining the social and political fabric of the local government.

“Port Harcourt City Local Government Area remains resolute and united,” the delegation noted, signaling that despite the conclusion of their formal terms in office, their influence and loyalty to the Fubara administration remain undiminished under the leadership of the former Chairman.

The meeting is seen by observers as a strategic move to ensure that the grassroots machinery of Port Harcourt City remains synchronised with the Governor’s broader state and national objectives. As the “Garden City” prepares for the challenges of the coming year, the solidarity displayed today suggests a formidable front in support of the Governor’s vision for Rivers State.
