Godwin Ukrapor, Uche Esegine, Taiwo Omogorove, Austin On and Meshak Owuh were arrested for the reported death of another member of the church, 19-year-old Lucky Chukwuka.
Prosecutors noted that the accused people were taken into custody for acting in a way that resulted into the death of Chukwuka.
Africa Update gathered that the crime was committed on Saturday, around 5:00am in Edo state. Five members of RCCG arrested for alleged murder of 19-year-old boy in Benin.
Frank Idiake, ruling magistrate declined the plea made by the accused people due to the expanse of their crime. Idiake also rejected authority over the case and ordered that the case be transferred to the state’s Director of Public Prosecutions for legal counsel.
The 19-year-old boy was also a member of RCCG As at the time of publishing this report, the church has not reacted on the matter. The church is expected to hold its annual convention between August 7 and 13.
It is the 65th edition of church’s convention and representatives from all of its parishes across the world are expected attend.
The church has one of the biggest membership in Nigeria, Africa and around the world.
