The wife of the Minister of Transportation, Dame Judith Amaechi, has distributed some food items to various communities in Rivers state, on May 6, in order to encourage Rivers people to continue to obey public health protocols including the stay-at-home instructions to flatten the curve of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Speaking on behalf of Dame Judith Amaechi who is also the founder of RSWAN, the President of RSWAN, Mrs Helen Odum explained that the gesture is borne out of love for the people of the State as this was their own way to show a little kindness to diverse persons beyond partylines.
She said that RSWAN could not fold its hands without contributing to the society, noting that the levels of hunger in the communities are of massive proportions, which require concerted efforts from both NGOs, public spirited individuals and government.
She expressed her delight at being a part of a group that thinks it worthy to reach out to the grassroots.
She further said Her Excellency was very touched by the situation in the country and has also reached out to other communities in other parts of the country. She prayed that God in His infinite mercy hearkens to our prayers for COVID-19 to be a thing of the past.
Mrs Odum thanked all those who assisted in making the palliatives available. The entourage had Ms Helen Okwu (Secretary, RSWAN) and Hon Mrs Nancy Stephens Ijaopo (Special Adviser on Political Matters, RSWAN)
