Port Harcourt, Rivers State – April 11, 2025 – The Office of the Administrator of Rivers State has issued a strong disclaimer regarding a fraudulent Special Government Announcement circulating on social media and other platforms. The purported announcement falsely claimed that His Excellency, the Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral (Rtd) Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas CFR, had approved the recruitment of 10,000 qualified graduates and non-graduates into the Rivers State civil service, with a recruitment portal allegedly set to open at midnight on Sunday, April 13, 2025.
The deceptive statement further falsely attributed its authorship to the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Ibibia Lucky Worika.
In an official statement signed by the Acting Head of the Rivers State Civil Service, Dr. (Mrs.) Inyingi S. I. Brown, the Rivers State Government unequivocally informed the people of Rivers State and the general public to disregard the fabricated announcement.
The government clarified that any legitimate information regarding civil service recruitment will be officially released by the Rivers State Civil Service Commission at the appropriate time.
Dr. Brown urged the public to exercise caution and rely only on official channels for information concerning government activities and opportunities. This decisive action by the Office of the Administrator aims to prevent potential misinformation and protect citizens from falling victim to fraudulent schemes.
