The Leader, Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) Rivers State and Trustee of PANDEF National body, Alabo Tonye O. Graham-Douglas, has charged the Executive Committee of PANDEF Rivers State chapter, to ‘put in motion a machinery that would seek ways and constitutional means of redressing the wrongs done to the people of Niger Delta’.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony in Port Harcourt today, May 15, 2018, Alabo Graham-Douglas, tasked the committee to advance new ways of tackling the problems and menace Niger Deltans are faced with, ‘conscious of the universal and absolute self sustenance/reliance but always being unique part of the larger coordinating body at the centre’.
He expressed delight at the announcement of the Federal government to reinstate history in the curriculum of schools, with the view to ‘enhance learning and give a sense of direction to a seemingly uninformed generation’.
‘I am indeed glad for the new development because a people unaware of their past can inevitably be building their future on wrong foundations’, he asserted.
Alabo Graham-Douglas, reiterated that PANDEF, being a socio cultural movement is designed to actualize the emancipation of the people of the Niger Delta.
On his part, the Chairman of the Executive Committee and elder statesman,Ā Chief Sampson Agbaru,Ā commended the leader PANDEF Rivers State, Alabo Graham-Douglas for the confidence reposed on members of the committee.
He urged the people of Niger Delta to foster oneness and avoid actions that could cause rancour, to enable the region benefit from its contribution towards the survival of the Nation.
Eulogizing the achievements of Alabo Graham-Douglas, he stressed the need for members of the executive committee to exhibit high levels of commitment and performance.
Delivering his solidarity speech, the National Publicity Secretary, Chief Anabs Sara Igbe, opined that all citizens of the Niger Delta Region should support the ideology of PANDEF and join the movement aimed at protecting the rights and privileges of people from the region.
Emphasizing the need for all hands to be on deck to ensure that PANDEF becomes a formidable platform just like the Afenifere, that would discuss the Niger Delta Issue.
