The Rivers State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), today played host to the European Union Election Observation Mission, who visited and inspected preparations towards the governorship debate holding in the evening of the next day, Tuesday, March 7, 2023.
The team, including Ruzica Jovanovic and Daniel Esefanov, asked questions in many directions, all to ensure that the NUJ is prepared, is capable and is competent to organize an event of such magnitude with high sensitivity.
From their questioning, they seem to be interested in the organising body, the NUJ, their source of funding and in the selection process that threw up the eventual seven candidates.
Conducting the visitors round, the NUJ Chairman, Stanley Job Stanley, said despite pausity of funds and other challenges, journalists in Rivers State are determined to conduct this debate, so as to bring the candidates that want to rule the state face to face with the masses.
The chairman assured the visitors of a level playing ground and sense of responsibility.
