In a bid to ensure a successful Eid-el-fitr celebration, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Rivers Command has deployed personnel to worship centres and other key spots in the state.
A statement released to the media by the Spokesman of the Command, Oguntuase Michael (ACC), reads: Following the recent development in the Corps in preparation ahead of the Eid-el-fitr celebration, the State Commandant of NSCDC Commandant Muktar Lawal deploys 1050 personnel of the command ahead of the celebration.
This was on the backdrop of the need to beef up security ahead of the celebration and to tackle the growing insecurity in the state. The personnel are to ensure law and order are maintained around the prayers / worship grounds, recreational and shopping centres, also market places and other oil installations in the state.
It is hoped that with these measures put in place and the imposed curfew by the state government, there will be a peaceful Eid-el-fitr celebration in the state. The Commandant hereby warns any person or group of persons intending to format trouble of any kind in order to disrupt the celebration in the state to desist from such, because the command is poised to give stiff resistance to such acts. He however advice the good people of the state to go about their lawful businesses without fear while maintaining the order of the curfew. He however wish all the Muslim faithful a happy and hitch free Eid-el-fitr celebration.
