In a significant move to revitalise primary healthcare services within the Niger Delta, the Dr Emi Membere-Otaji Foundation has delivered a substantial consignment of essential drugs, clinical equipment, and administrative furniture to the Tema Community Health Centre in the Asari-Toru Local Government Area.

The intervention, which took place on 18 March 2026, was initiated in direct response to a formal petition from the Tema community, who had sought urgent support to restore the functionality of the facility and improve its daily operations.

Led by the Foundation’s President, Chief Dr Emi Membere-Otaji, the exercise forms part of a broader, ongoing mandate to fortify grassroots healthcare delivery throughout Rivers State. By providing modern clinical tools and necessary medications, the Foundation aims to ensure that rural populations have access to the same standard of medical attention available in urban centres.

Speaking on behalf of the jubilant community, Mr Howard Tom-West expressed profound gratitude for the timely arrival of the supplies. He remarked that the community had previously been hindered by the facility’s lack of resources, noting that “the Foundation’s support has lifted our burden.” Mr Tom-West further offered prayers for the continued prosperity of the organisation, asserting that the donation would materially enhance the quality of life for residents who depend on the centre for their primary medical needs.

Articulating the organisation’s long-term vision, the Foundation’s Vice-President, Mrs Olabisi Membere-Otaji, emphasised that the charity remains steadfast in its dedication to the pillars of health, education, and environmental stewardship.

She characterised the assistance provided to the Tema Community Health Centre as “a deliberate step toward easing the systemic challenges faced by the people.” Mrs Membere-Otaji reaffirmed the Foundation’s resolve to maintain its trajectory of targeted humanitarian programmes, specifically designed to empower vulnerable and underserved communities across the state.

The provision of clinical equipment and furniture is expected to stabilise the health centre’s infrastructure, allowing medical personnel to discharge their duties with greater efficiency.

This latest gesture by the Dr Emi Membere-Otaji Foundation reinforces its reputation as a leading light in corporate social responsibility and private philanthropy within the South-South region, proving once again that strategic partnerships between private foundations and local communities are vital for sustainable development.
