A former Commissioner for Water and Rural Development, Dr. Doris Fisher is dead.
A close family source confirmed the shocking news to Africa Update in the early hours of Thursday, June 6.
The news about the death of the Kalabari Amazon, who is a trained and certified Medical doctor broke late Wednesday night.
The story which appeared to be a fluke was confirmed by Facebook posts by family sources who are grieving the demise of this seasoned politician.
Fisher, served as a consultant physician at Military Hospital, Ikoyi Lagos after graduating, a position she held to 1997.
Between 1997 – 2004, she served as Executive Chairman of the Rivers State Primary Education Board.
She was later appointed as Commissioner for Water and Urban development, from October 2008 to December 2010.
Her last known political appointment was Chairman at Port Harcourt Water Corporation in December 2018.
She studied at Queen’s college Lagos, College of Medicine University of Lagos, Idi Araba, and University of London.
Details surrounding her demise have not been disclosed. She is however, survived by two sons and a husband.
