The Emeritus Chairman of Daar Communications, High Chief Raymond Aleogho Dokpesi narrowly escaped death in an assassination attempt on Saturday in Abuja.
Our source revealed that Dokpesi’s Prado vehicle with registration number APP 577DK was trailed by the assailants to the Child Care and Awareness hospital in Wuse 2, where a police officer attached to the High Chief, Sergeant Den Gaius of the FCT Police Command, was killed.
Africa Update gathered that unknown to the assailants, the Prado was conveying the Managing Director of Africa Independent Television, and wife of Chief Dokpesi, Dr Mrs Oluwatosin Dokpesi, who had complained of serious stomach cramps on arrival from Lagos to the hospital, accompanied by her cousin, Ms Abolore Sode and an aide, Ms Aisha Adamu.
They had attacked the driver and the sergeant, as soon as Mrs Dokpesi and her aide alighted from the vehicle. They had asked for Chief Dokpesi. When it was obvious that he was not in the vehicle , they had allegedly threatened to hunt and kill him.
The assailants, who were about four, shot the sergeant thrice, and collected the driver’s handset and the sergeants AK47 riffle, before escaping in a Honda Accord car.
