Auchi, Edo State — In a powerful demonstration of Rotary’s impact, District Governor Rtn. Anthony Osaretin Woghiren recently commissioned a vital Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) project provided by the Rotary Club of Auchi Central. The commissioning event also served as a celebration of the club’s extraordinary growth, which has seen its membership swell from 19 to an impressive 60 in just two months.
This significant achievement highlights the club’s renewed capacity for service, a direct result of its proactive and highly successful membership drive. The drive, which was launched in March 2025 by President Rtn. Christopher Ighodaro, was inspired by the Rotary motto of “Service Above Self.” Ighodaro’s strategy focused on personal outreach, one-on-one engagements, and a passionate “preaching of Rotary as a life-changing opportunity.” This effort resulted in the induction of 41 new members.
“This outstanding accomplishment is a clear testament to visionary leadership, unity of purpose, and the vibrant spirit of Rotary at work,” said District Governor Woghiren in a statement celebrating the club’s milestone.
The surge in membership has revitalized the club, injecting fresh energy and diverse talents. Already, four of the new members have become Paul Harris Fellows, contributing meaningfully to The Rotary Foundation and expanding the club’s ability to deliver impactful projects like the newly commissioned WASH initiative.
The Rotary Club of Auchi Central has not only solidified its foundation but has also set a shining example for other clubs in the district. Its focus on attracting a wide range of professionals, entrepreneurs, and community leaders has created a dynamic team that is well-positioned to expand its reach and create lasting change in its community.
