DELGA Chairman partners with Tonye Harry Charity Foundation to expand scholarship opportunities

Hon. Amabara Ekine, Chief of Staff of Degema Local Government Area, representing the Executive Chairman, Dr. Agiriye Monima Harry, attended the inaugural Tonye Harry Charity Foundation scholarship ceremony in Obuama. Dr. Harry, in a message conveyed by Hon. Ekine, pledged to partner with the foundation to expand the scope of its scholarship program, emphasizing that the late Rt. Hon. Tonye Harry’s legacy is a cause close to his heart.

Dr. Harry encouraged the 30 scholarship recipients to embrace the opportunity and use it as a stepping stone to contribute to their communities. He announced that further educational support, including bursaries and additional scholarships, is forthcoming for Degema LGA students. He also highlighted the ongoing first phase of his free JAMB form initiative for all students in the LGA.

Hon. Ekine, along with Hon. Tamunoemi O.C. Harry, Councilor Ward 14 Obuama, also made financial pledges to the Tonye Harry Charity Foundation in support of their work.

Hon. Fubara Imangs, Chairman of the Tonye Harry Charity Foundation, expressed gratitude to all attendees, stating that the ceremony marked a significant milestone in their commitment to empowering the next generation through education. He emphasized the foundation’s belief in education as a catalyst for social change.

Her Worship Barr. Mrs. Sotonye Harry, CEO of the Tonye Harry Charity Foundation, thanked Dr. Harry for his partnership and commitment to expanding opportunities for students. She also acknowledged the contributions of other donors, partners, and volunteers, as well as the dedication of educators and mentors.

Among the dignitaries present were Hon. Mrs. Joeba West, former CTC Chairman and former Commissioner for Women Affairs; Chief Elect. Hon. Mpakabuari Harry, Supervisor for Power Degema LGA; and numerous others.
