Reactions have continued to trail the recent kidnap of expatriates working on the Trans Kalabari Road in Rivers State. A Justice of Peace and leader of DELGA 17, a socio-political group in Degema Local Government Area, Hon. Alphine Ajeminayanate Albert Obed Whyte, says the kidnap is an act of sabotage, to stop the Kalabari people from benefiting from the benevolence of Governor Nyesom Wike.

Demanding for the immediate release of the expatriates, during a press conference that held today in Port Harcourt, Hon. Whyte said: We just received the news of the kidnap of workers on Trans Kalabari project with a rude shock. We are totally disappointed.

“We are really not happy that such can be contemplated at this time when our dear Governor is working to see that development is carried to the nooks and crannies of the State.

“Projects have being in several communities and we have not heard of such level of kidnap. So, why the senseless kidnap now? For now, I want to think that if the kidnap is confirmed to be true, it’s unfortunate.

“We are known to be peace loving people. We are known to be people who protect what belongs to them and this is a project that is bearing on the lives of Kalabari people. That is going to transform the area. So, in totality, we are condemning the act and whoever is responsible for this senseless action, should have a rethink.

“Wherever they are, they should ask the Lord for mercy and without condition, release those they have abducted and ensure never to do so again.

“And I want to call on the youths of Kalabari land to be watchdogs of the community and police the project, because this project is very dear to them and ensure that such never repeats itself in Kalabari land.

“I also want to call on security agencies to ensure that wherever the abductors are, wherever these senseless kidnappers are, that they are fished out!, They are smoked out of their hiding places.

“And going further, the security architecture of the state should be improved upon to ensure that there is no hiding place for criminals.

“Rivers State has been peaceful. That is why members of DELGA 17, see this action as an act of sabotage, to stop the Kalabari people from benefiting from the benevolence of our legacy Governor.

“And we are saying it can never happen again. Enough is enough. Every man every woman, everyone whether indigene or not, who resides in this state, should ensure that there is no hiding place for criminals any longer. Enough is enough. We can not allow this act of stupidity to continue in our land.”
