Crisis looms as Busta Rhymes, Ifoko Chiefs engage in war of words

The serene and peaceful Ifoko community in Degema Local Government Area, of Rivers State, might be heading for unrest, if the ongoing tussle concerning the power of Attorney earlier given to the Reagent and Custodian of the Community, Prince Amaibi Humby continues.

Chairman Ifoko Council of Chiefs, Chief Fubara Thomas Akoko, had in a statement jointly signed by six other chiefs, alleged that Prince Amaibi Humby, has no right to represent the community following the expiration of the power of Attorney the community had given to him in November 2016 “to engage and liaise with all tiers of government on matters concerning the development and progress of the community “.

Part of the statement reads; ” The revocation of the power of Attorney is in line with the terms of the agreement which stipulates the 3 year term with November 1, 2019 as expiration date.

“Following the expiration of the power of Attorney, Prince Amaibi Humby aka Busts Rhymes, ceases to continue to represent Ifoko community in all government and company matters, in regards to the development and programs of the area. ” He is no longer the custodian of the trust and mandate of the people of ifoko community.

“Furthermore, it is pertinent to note that we never recognised Prince Amaibi Humby as Reagent of Elem Ifoko in the expired power of Attorney we granted him three years ago.

” In light of the foregoing, we therefore call on the Rivers State Government and companies operating in Ifoko community not to relate or have any dealings anymore with Prince Amaibi Humby on matters concerning the community.

“He no longer has the legitimacy to represent us, following the expiration of the power of Attorney we granted him.

“His decision to continuously act as representative of Ifoko community despite the expiration of the mandate we gave to him, is tantamount to impersonation this amounts to a criminal offence.

” We also call on the Rivers State commissioner of Police and the Director of DSS Rivers State Command, to check the activities of Prince Amaibi Humby as his actions are capable of breaching the existing peace in the community and erode the gains made by the Federal Government in the stability of the Niger Delta for uninterrupted oil production”.

The statement was jointly signed by Chief Tamunopriye Tamunoye – Personal stool Chief of Ifoko community, Chief Fubara Kalasuku- Head of Kalasuku family of Ifoko community, Chief Allen C. Flagg, (Adabaobu 1) – Head of Adabaobu family of Ifoko community, Elder Dr. Daerego E. K Jack – Chairman Ifoko development Union, Mr. Adolphus S. Jack – Chairman Ifoko community development committee and Mr. Tonye Dokubo, Secretary Ifoko community.

Meanwhile Prince Amaibi Humby, has also released a statement refuting the claims made by the Ifoko council of chiefs, reiterating that he still remains the Reagent and Custodian of Elem Ifoko community
