Traders at Ikoku market say they are ready to stage a week- dilong sit at home over the police and state government’s failure to get justice for deceased trader Chima Ikwunado.
Some of the traders who were seen hanging around Ikoku spare parts market wondered why there has been no official comment on the matter from forces headquarters Abuja adding that the silence of the state government and other stakeholders suggest that there is a grand plot to truncate justice.Â
There was apprehension at very busy Olu-Obasanjo Road yesterday, as over five Police vans were seen positioned at strategic points around the Ikoku spare parts market even as shops were seen closed.
Africa Update gathered that the Ikoku road leading to Olu Obasanjo road was earlier barricaded by the police but was later reopened.
Recall that  Chima Ikwunado died in Police custody after he was arrested alongside four others who were accused of stealing two cars.
Chima was allegedly tortured to death by the Police, and his death has sparked protest in the spare-part market, at Ikoku, axis of Rivers State, where he owned a shop.
