A Chief Magistrate Court in Port Harcourt presided over by Israel O. Agbesor has yesterday ordered the detention of the former Asari Toru Local Government Council Chairman, Hon. Ojukaye Flag Amachree in prison custody .
The former Council Boss is being arraigned before the Chief Magistrate Court for 2 count charge of conspiracy and murder of Mr. Smart Soberekon in Buguma City Asari Toru Local Government Area.
Counsel to the accussed, Mr. Ken Asuete expressed displeasure at the decision of the Chief Magistrate to remand his client in prison custody stating that he was opposed to the charges against his client on the grounds that there is no proper charge before the court, and that the court lacked the power to hear the matter.
He further stated that they had filled the necessary papers to express their grievance concerning the court’s decision and expressed optimism that the magistrate would review their submission and take necessary steps to ensure the release of Hon. Amachree today.
Meanwhile, counsel to the deceased, Mr. Tubotamuno Dick said the arraignment of Hon. Amachree shows that no one is above the law.
The Chief magistrate has fixed today to rule on the objection raised by the counsel to the accused.
