Executive Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area has pointed out that competence and commitment remains two component virtues needed to drive development in the society.

While affirming Prof. Onuchuku’s competence, he acknowledged that the University and entire state will benefit from his wealth of experience.

The Chairman, insisting that competence and commitment are key virtues in development at all levels, especially in the political sphere, maintained that he is an advocate of competence.

Similarly, he noted that a comparative analysis was conducted upon assumption of office by his administration to ascertain and identify some of the problems faced by citizens of the local government after which efforts and machineries has been introduced to tackle them.

He added that the poor management of government facilities in the area was what informed his administration to channel its focus in human capacity development, especially in the area of education and vocational training.

On his part, the acting Vice Chancellor of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Professor Onuchuku, who spoke earlier, commended Governor Wike’s efforts in ensuring his appointment as Vice Chancellor.

Speaking further, he said the essence of the visit is to familiarize with the council as well as partner in the area of human capacity development.
