Colombia’s Vice President Mrs. Francia Márquez Arrives in Nigeria to Deepen Diplomatic Ties

Abuja, Nigeria — The Vice President of the Republic of Colombia, Mrs. Francia Márquez, arrived in Nigeria yesterday for a three-day official visit aimed at strengthening diplomatic and strategic relations between the two countries.

Márquez was received at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja by a delegation of top Nigerian government officials, including the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Chief Uche Nnaji, and the Minister of Women Affairs, Hon. Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim. The Colombian Vice President is accompanied by a high-level delegation of ministers and business leaders, setting the stage for significant bilateral discussions.

According to a press release from the office of Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, the visit is expected to enhance collaboration in key areas such as trade, agriculture, energy, education, and security. A major highlight of the visit will be the signing of several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) in strategic sectors, including women’s empowerment, aviation, and culture.

The visit’s agenda includes a plenary session to be attended by both Vice President Márquez and her Nigerian counterpart, Shettima. Other events include the Nigeria-Colombia Business Forum, government-to-government meetings, and a summit on Artificial Intelligence, all designed to foster stronger ties between the two nations.
