Chidi Lloyd holds ‘Proper Funeral’ For Late Father 45 Years after his death

Former majority leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Dr. Chidi Lloyd, has held a proper funeral service for his late father, 45 years after his death. The funeral service held at his hometown in Akpabu Community in Emohua Local Government Area of the state, on December 30.

Loyd’s father, late Lloyd Joseph Amadioha , Africa Update gathered, had been buried in Buguma town, in Asari Toru Local Government Area, in 1975 due to a communal clash. Eulogizing his late father, Lloyd said those around him benefited immensely from his benevolence and advice, stating further that his father was a socialite and was a founding member of the famous Ekine Semi Apu.

Speaking at the funeral service, the State Governor, Nyesom Wike, commended Lloyd for performing the ceremony despite the number of years past, as his decision to conduct a proper burial for his father in his hometown has etablished his root as a true son of Akpabu Community.

Wike noted that Lloyd had done the right thing as a good son, to give a proper burial to his late father, which he said would make his departed father proud of him. “I thank Chidi Lloyd for bringing back his father home to give him a proper burial. If you did not do this, most people would have been asking, are you that Chidi Lloyd from Akpabu? “But this has confirmed that he is a true son of Akpabu Community. Your father wherever he is, will be happy that his son has made him proud. I want you to continue to live the life that your father lived, at least far above what he did,” said the governor.

Notable dignitaries who accompanied the Governor to the event include: Former Governor of the state, Sir Celestine Omehia, Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Tammy Danagogo, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Engr. Chukwuemeka Woke, Commissioner for Information and Communications, Pastor Paulinus Nsirim, and Elder statesman, Chief Sergeant Awuse.
