The Nigeria Prisons Service (NPS), has confirmed a foiled jailbreak at the Kuje maximum Prison on Friday night but said it was uncertain if any inmate escaped.
Reacting to insinuations that the jailed leader of the Movement for the Emancipation of Niger Delta (MEND), Charles Okah, escaped during the jailbreak, the Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Prisons Service (NPS), Mr. Francis Enobore said Okah was still in prison custody despite the incident on Friday, June 24.
The Comptoller of prisons has ordered an investigation into the incident.
