Africa update has received reports of a possible hostage situation in Tombia and Bakana communities in Degema Local Government Area, in Rivers State.
According to sources, members of the All Progressives Congress, APC and  officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission involved in the Governorship and State Assembly elections, have allegedly been prevented from moving election materials to the Registration Area Centre,  RAC, at the council headquarters in Degema.
Our sources alleged that the council boss, Hon Tony Philemon and the PDP House of Representatives candidate, Hon. Farah Dagogo, are responsible.
Efforts to contact relevant security agencies are on going at the time of this report.
