Bonny deserves good Medicare ~Senator Banigo

The Senator representing Rivers West Senatorial district in the National Assembly, Senator, Dr Ipalibo Harry Banigo has assured the people of Bonny of good Medicare, skills acquisition and youths empowerment programs.

Senator Banigo gave the assurance during a town hall meeting and interactive session with the people in Bonny. She said although the Senate is on recess, she is seizing the opportunity to discuss and relate with her constituents directly.

Receiving the Senator, Chairman of Bonny local government area, Hon. Dame Anengi Barasua Claude Wilcox thanked her for the meeting and pledged her indulgence to use her good office to look into the health sector as the Chairman Committee on Health in the 10th assembly.

She expressed deep worry over the challenges of accessing good medical facilities in the area. Responding, Senator Banigo said the people have always won her heart while thanking them for standing by her all the time.

Dr Banigo reiterated her resolve to do whatever she couldn’t achieve as former deputy governor and prayed to God to give her the ability and opportunity to do it, while building on her campaign Mantra, kingdom mandate which brings Justice, Righteousness, Peace, and Joy to the Land.

The federal lawmaker is disturbed to remember that Bonny has serious infrastructural deficit and the none establishment of the Bonny master plan since she was secretary to state government in 1998.

She particularly express concern over the pandemic of hard drugs which has overtaking the youths and girls, according to her is a Societal problem that all hands must be on deck to fix it while promising to do her best for her people.

On the issue of employment, she said the people should be employed in the oil and gas sectors as well as other establishment following the local content under the PIO act which discusses host communities and thier benefits.

Senator Banigo who recently had a thank you banquet to appreciate her Senatorial District later visited the Bonny Vocational Centre BVC, she was received by the acting technical director of the centre, Mr Micah Dappa Ibiama, the Manager NLNG External Relations Community Development, Charles Epelle and other board of directors.

Mr Ibiama who thanked the senator for coming said the visit was timely as they presented their Gains and challenges of the vocational centre to the distinguished Senator.

The technical director however called for the establishment of more vocational centres, especially in Ahoada which is more centralised and accessible to empower the youths of this generation in the area in viable skills like artificial intelligence, decoding, droning and roboting.

Noting that this is where the global stage is heading. Senator Banigo in her remarks expressed satisfaction over the remarkable success recorded in the centre so far.

She thanked the NLNG for the motive as well as the community for their corporation She revealed that her passion for the youths placed her to become a female president of the boys brigade in the old Rivers State.

The soft spoken mother challenged the youths to be self engaged, motivated, reliance, confident and ability to put in to use what God has called them to do. Senator BANIGO revealed that she has enacted a bill for the youths in which her prayer has passed the first reading in the Senate and she is hopeful it will soon get to the second reading and will be open to public opinion. She was later taken on a facility tour of the vocational centre.
