Dr. Sokonte Davies has added his voice to condemn in very clear terms, the barbaric assault and attempt to assassinate the Hon. Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi in Port Harcourt over the weekend, an incident that occured while he was in the same car with the Minister.
According to him, “why should Gov. Wike treat his former boss and predecessor in office with such ignoble contempt and disdain?” He wondered if what the governor wanted was to eliminate Amaechi by all means, otherwise, “why did the outrider allow the first two vehicles in Amaechi’s convoy pass through, only to halt and bash the third in which the Minister was driving in” he asked.
That Govenor Wike could come out of his car after the failed assasination of the minister only to vent his anger on the minister’s supporters depicts how fast he is descending into tyranny, an act Dr. Sokonte described as most galling and unbridled arrogance of the Governor.
“Even if the governor needs cover it is only proper that such requirement be subject to civilisation and due consideration of others” he said.
