Armed Forces Remembrance Day: Rivers holds special JUMA’AT prayers

The Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, on Friday led Moslem faithful in the state to the Juma’at prayers in commemoration of the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance in the State.

The Juma’at prayer is among the line up of the activities as the nation remembers her fallen heroes, who sacrificed their lives for the peace and unity of Nigeria.

The Governor, who was represented by the Sole Administrator, Rivers State Muslim Pilgrims Board, Abdulrasaq Diepriye observed that it is instructive that the nation appreciates the sacrifices of those who traded their luxury for the peace being enjoyed in the country.

According to him, the Government and people of Rivers State will remain generous to the legionnaires and families left behind by the fallen heroes, adding that only recently, the government donated funds to the legionnaire that will also positively impart widows and children of those who paid the ultimate sacrifice.

He commended the doggedness of security agencies and thanked them for the peace maintained during the Yuletide.

The Chief Imam of the Central Mosque, Port Harcourt, Imam Ibrahim Yaloo, who led the special prayers, prayed for God’s guidance and protection for the Armed Forces, just as he called on all Nigerians to continue to support their efforts.

Prayers were also made for the veterans who contributed to the unity of the nation and the repose of the souls of the fallen heroes, the leadership of Nigeria, and Rivers State.

Among other activities scheduled for this year’s memorial in the state are interdenominational church service on Sunday at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Chaplaincy, CIWA and the climax on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 with the laying of wreaths by Governor Siminalayi Fubara and other top government officials as well as service chiefs in the state.
