ABUJA, FCT – July 23, 2025 – A last-minute decision by President Bola Tinubu has seen the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, initially slated for the party’s national headquarters at Buhari House, abruptly relocated to the Aso Rock Presidential Villa. The sudden change, occurring on Wednesday, the eve of the crucial gathering, reportedly caught many party stakeholders by surprise.
Preparations at the original venue, including the erection of a large tent that began on Tuesday evening, were quickly dismantled following the directive.
Felix Morka, the APC National Publicity Secretary, issued a statement announcing the venue change, citing “logistical reasons” as the basis for the President’s decision.
In a separate development, the APC expressed profound shock and sorrow over the death of a long-serving staff member at its National Secretariat, Mr. Abraham Olu.
The party’s statement mourning his passing read: “The APC is deeply saddened by the death of a long serving member of staff at its National Secretariat, Mr. Abraham Olu, who died on Tuesday, July 22, 2025. Until his passing, he was a resourceful Organising Officer of the Organising department of our great party.”
Mr. Olu, born on April 4, 1966, hailed from Kogi State and was married with children. He joined the APC from the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) as a foundation staff member following the merger in 2013. The party noted he “will be sorely missed for his diligence and thoroughness in the discharge of his duties.”
“Our thoughts and prayers are with his immediate family, colleagues and staffers of the national secretariat of our great party during this difficult time. May the Almighty God grant him eternal rest. Amen,” the statement concluded.
