Nigeria’s newly appointed Ambassador to the United Mexican States, His Excellency Reno Omokri, has declared Nigeria the leading touristic and investment hub in Africa. Speaking from the base of Mount Kilimanjaro as he commenced his fourth ascent to hoist the Nigerian flag, the Ambassador-designate dismissed reports of insecurity as “negative propaganda,” citing robust data to showcase the nation’s stability and economic prosperity.

In a move blending diplomatic duty with physical endurance, Ambassador Omokri dedicated his appointment to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Nigerian people, pledging unwavering loyalty to the constitution and the current administration.

The primary objective of the Kilimanjaro climb, according to the Ambassador, is to provide a global stage for “facts and figures” that reflect the true state of the Nigerian union. He pointed to the success of major cultural and touristic events over the past year as empirical evidence of a secure environment.

“Last year, Nigeria hosted the single largest touristic event in Africa, ‘Dirty December’. Approximately 1.2 million tourists visited Lagos, and not one was robbed or killed; there were no domestic incidents,” Omokri stated.

He further highlighted the Ojude Oba Festival, which drew 200,000 visitors, and the Argungu Fishing Festival in Kebbi State, where 500,000 spectators gathered without security breaches, as proof of the country’s effective safety protocols.

Ambassador Omokri extended a formal invitation to foreign investors, characterising Nigeria as an exceptionally fertile ground for capital growth. He highlighted the remarkable performance of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NGX) and the country’s manufacturing sector as key indicators of health.

“If you had invested a million dollars in Nigeria five years ago, today that investment would be worth five million dollars,” Omokri remarked, noting that Nigeria currently possesses the second-largest manufacturing base on the continent, trailing Egypt by a narrow margin of 5 billion dollars, a gap he predicts will close within five years.

The Ambassador also emphasised Nigeria’s unique political maturity, noting that it is the only African nation where five former Presidents and Heads of State reside peacefully alongside the incumbent, cooperating for the national good.

He concluded by urging the international community to “pack their money” and bring their holidays to Nigeria, reaffirming that the nation is not only safe but is currently responsible for the sixth-largest GDP growth contribution globally, despite representing only 2% of the world’s population.
