The Minister of Transportation, Chief Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has constituted an implementation committee which he said will be headed by the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC), Mr. Hassan Bello to revive the Nation’s shipping line.
The minister said the immediate constitution of the implementation committee was to enable the Federal Government meet the August deadline given by international regulators and investors who have indicated interest in the sector.
Amaechi said the August deadline stipulates that all the necessary framework and foundation for viable international maritime activities which will attract foreign investors should be in place.
Amaechi made this known on Monday, when the report of the committee he constituted in April to revive the country’s national shipping line presented its report.
The committee chaired by Mr. Olu Olusoji, met with the minister in Abuja.
