All Nigeria Rotary Conference: Governor Fubara Declares Rivers ‘One of the Most Peaceful Destinations’ in Nigeria

Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has publicly proclaimed the state as one of Nigeria’s “most peaceful destinations” for tourists and business persons, emphasizing its safety and legendary hospitality.

The Governor made this declaration today, November 22, 2025, during the All Nigeria Rotary Conference Port Harcourt, 2025, held at the Dr. Obi Wali International Conference Centre in Port Harcourt.

Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba, Governor Fubara expressed profound gratitude that the bi-annual Rotary Conference chose the Garden City as its convergence point, noting that the event was crucial in exposing the state’s positive atmosphere to other Nigerians.

“We deeply appreciate your choice of the city of Port-Harcourt as your place of convergence, and heartily welcome this gathering of business leaders, policy makers and global partners to the Garden City and the legendary hospitality of the jewel of the Niger Delta. Your presence is a testament, and a tick of pass-mark on the Scorecard that Rivers State is indeed Peaceful and Safe,” he enthused.

The host, Rotary International District 9141 Governor, Anthony Woghiren, acknowledged the commitment of Rotarians to service, stating, “As we gather in Port Harcourt for this landmark conference, we are inspired anew to unite for good, deepen our impact and prepare for greater possibilities ahead.”

Sir Fubara further encouraged the Rotary District of Nigeria to cooperate and partner with the Rivers State Government in crucial areas of social development and conflict resolution.

He specifically called on the Rotary Club to:

  • Youth Mentorship: “Partner with Government in mentoring energetic youths, to steer them away from social vices, and to direct their focus on positive endeavours.”
  • Peace and Reconciliation: “Act as Mediators, practitioners and propagators of ethnic and religious tolerance, fairness, justice and equity, peace and unity, to stem the tide of disaffection in the polity.”

He applauded the clubs’ attributes of helping to build goodwill and peace around the world, and particularly in Rivers State.

In recognition of his efforts, Governor Fubara was awarded the Peace Advocate title by the Rotary District of Nigeria, for his resilience and dedication to the sustenance of peace in Rivers State.
