The wife of Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari, Aisha Buhari, says recent photographs of her husband which surfaced on the internet over the weekend are misleading.
She disclosed that the woman behind the misleading photographs is a Nigerian UK-based blogger and socialite, Aisha ALubankudi, who is the was the woman standing between President Buhari and the Minister of Solid Minerals, Kayode Fayemi, in the circulated photographs.
A Presidency source, who spoke on her behalf said “The picture did not emanate from us. They belonged to her (Alubankudi) and she has responded (to appropriate authoritie ).”
Meanwhile, Alubankudi admitted that the images were taken before the 2015 general elections but denied circulating them in recent times to mislead the public.
The UK-based socialite, however, insinuated that the recent circulation of the photographs was done by some mischievous people who are yet-to-be identified.
She said on her Facebook page: “How many times am I going to tell you that this is an old photo, it was taken before 2015 election? Who is the ‘imbecile’ that ‘resurrected’ this photo again?”
It could be recalled that Mrs Buhari had jetted out to London last week to visit her ailing husband. and with Alubankudi’s release of the images; unsuspecting Nigerians were misled into thinking President Buhari was relatively hale and hearty.
Buhari has spent 65 days in London on a second medical vacation this year.
