The Editorial Board and Management of Africa Update render an unreserved apology to our esteemed readers, stakeholders, and particularly our valued advertisers, following a grave technical blunder that resulted in the distribution of an obsolete edition of our publication.
On Wednesday, January 28th, 2026, due to an unprecedented lapse in production oversight, a significant number of copies of an edition dated December 13th – 20th, 2021, were erroneously printed and circulated in place of the current issue.
This unfortunate incident led to the delay of several high-profile advertorials intended to felicitate with His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, the Executive Governor of Rivers State. We deeply regret the embarrassment this clerical “printer’s devil” has caused those who sought to celebrate the Governor’s achievements through our platform.
The Publisher and Editor-in-Chief, Gloria Boma Harry, has expressed her “sincerest and deepest apologies” to the advertisers whose current placements were overlooked and to those whose 2021 content was inadvertently reprinted.
In response to this act of gross negligence, the Management has taken immediate and decisive action:
Summary Dismissal: Mr. Ikechukwu Odogwu, the officer responsible for the production oversight, has been relieved of his duties with immediate effect.
Internal Investigation: A formal inquiry has been launched to “unravel the reason behind this strange occurrence.”
Allegations of Sabotage: Ms. Harry noted that the incident carries the stench of “perceived foul play.” Preliminary assessments suggest the error was too systemic to be a mere accident, marking the first time such a breach has occurred since Africa Update commenced operations in 2011.
“For fifteen years, we have maintained a standard of excellence and integrity,” said Gloria Boma Harry. “To have a four-year-old edition resurface in 2026 is not merely a mistake; it is an anomaly we are investigating with the utmost gravity.”
The Management wishes to reassure all advertisers that their corrected advertorials have been published in a special commemorative edition to rectify the displacement. We are implementing more rigorous “fail-safe” protocols at our printing press to ensure that such a professional embarrassment is never repeated.
‘We thank our loyal public for their patience and continued patronage as we navigate this internal challenge’ she noted.
