Amabelemabo 1 of Bille Kingdom, Engr. Adokiye Tombomieye, has bagged the 2025 CWO Grand Ambassador of Charity Extraordinaire Award. The conferment, which took place on March 30 at St. Francis Catholic Church, Rumuokwuta, Port Harcourt Diocese, witnessed the gathering of the crème de la crème of society.
Africa Update reports that the award event was part of activities lined up to celebrate the Church’s Mother’s Day celebration for 2025, with the theme: “A hopeful woman walks and works by faith (Hebrews 11:1 & 6).”
A letter jointly signed by Lady Eucharia E. Nnaji, Chairperson of the planning committee, Dr. Nene Vik-Benibo LKSJI, President of the Catholic Women Organisation, and Rev. Fr. Paul Okeregwu, Parish Priest, had earlier notified Tombomieye of the rationale behind his nomination for the award, for his continuous support of the well-being and welfare of individuals.
“This award is conferred on notable, distinguished personalities who have achieved the highest ideals in undertaking conspicuous deeds of charity for humanity, and who are consistently influential advocates for the rights of women and children, which you are known for,” the letter read in part.
The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt, Prof. Owunari Georgewill, was among other notable personalities who received awards.
Tombomieye, a distinguished figure in the Nigerian oil and gas industry known for his extensive experience and contributions, is the former Executive Vice President of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC), now NNPC Limited.
