The Nigeria Police Force has delivered a resounding blow to criminal networks, announcing the successful rescue of 21 kidnapped individuals and the recovery of ₦4.8 million in ransom, alongside a cache of arms and ammunition. A series of meticulously coordinated operations, spanning Taraba and Kano states, culminated in the arrest of six suspects, signaling a significant victory in the fight against violent crime.
Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, detailed the operations, emphasising the force’s unwavering resolve to dismantle criminal syndicates that threaten national security. The operations showcased the dedication and strategic prowess of the police in high-stakes scenarios.
In a dramatic rescue mission in Taraba State, officers from the State Command, collaborating with other security agencies, liberated 20 kidnapped victims along the perilous Takum/Mararaba road. The operation, executed on March 29, 2025, in Muji Town, involved a fierce exchange of gunfire, forcing the kidnappers to abandon their captives and flee. Two rescued individuals, sustaining injuries, are now receiving urgent medical attention.
Meanwhile, the Kano State Anti-Kidnapping Squad achieved a significant breakthrough with the apprehension of a gang responsible for the abduction of Dr. Muhammad Bello Yushau. Following meticulous investigations, five suspects—Tukur Lawal (alias Maikudi), Ado Usman, Sanusi Surajo, Habiba Shuaibu, and Ummulkhairi Ibrahim—were apprehended on March 18 and 19. The operation yielded a locally made rifle and ₦4.84 million, believed to be ransom money. Dr. Yushau was safely rescued and reunited with his relieved family.
Further demonstrating the force’s relentless pursuit of criminals, the Special Tactical Squad (STS) arrested Kafinta Musa in Taraba for armed robbery, kidnapping, and illegal firearm possession, seizing an AK-49 rifle loaded with five rounds of ammunition.
ACP Adejobi commended the officers for their exemplary courage and professionalism, emphasizing the collaborative effort between the police and citizens in safeguarding communities. Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, echoed these sentiments, reaffirming the force’s unwavering commitment to eradicating criminal activities across the nation.
