A 9 year old girl from Bori in Khana Local Government Area, Rivers State is now feared dead after she was raped by a 20 year old man in the community.
The suspect identified as Eedee Tombari allegedly defiled the 9 year old at Lepne street in Bori, the headquarters of Khana LGA and later threw her at the back of a fence in the area.
It is gathered that the suspect sneaked into the room where the mother of the victim, Mrs. Eedeebari Gonis-Kogbara, had kept her to sleep while the night vigil of a church programme was ongoing.
Report says the accused person has been arrested by the Bori Area Command and transferred to the Rivers State Criminal Investigative and Intelligence Department (SCIID) for further investigation.
In an interview with journalists, father of the victim, Pastor Peter Gonis-Kogbara, who is a General Overseer of a church in Bodo, said it was the traces of blood that helped people to discover where the suspect dumped his dead daughter.
He thanked the Bori Police area command for their immediate response and called on well meaning Nigerians to come to his aid and ensure that justice prevails in the matter.
Meanwhile, the state chairperson of Federation of International Women Lawyers, Rivers State chapter, Anthonia Osademe, has commended the security operatives for their quick intervention in arresting the suspect.
She said FIDA will follow the matter to a logical conclusion.
