In an effort to curb incessant killings linked to herdsmen, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Â Chief Audu Ogbeh, Â had initiated the establishment of cattle colonies across states of the Nation.
This development which has met stiff resistance from all 17 southern states, has met the approval of almost all the northern states.
About 16 northern states except Benue and Taraba states have approved the establishment of 5,000 hectares of land for cattle colonies.
The states include Adamawa, Kano, Kaduna, Katsina, Zamfara, Kebbi, Nasarawa, Plateau, Bauchi, Gombe, Borno, Jigawa, Yobe, Niger, Kogi and Kwara states.
