A medical feat has been recorded Globally, with the development of a mobile App, aimed at addressing medical challenges in urban and rural communities. Unveiling the mobile App to newsmen in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital over the weekend, the President, Doctors Savealife Foundation, Dr. Richard C. Okoye, said the vision behind the development of a medical App is to give total health care to the people of the World and Africa in particular.
Okoye stated that the creation of the Drsavealife App has broken medical records to become the first medical App with the ability to translate information in local languages on health matters for the benefit of the common Man.
Speaking further he noted that during a medical conference in Los Angeles, it was discovered that the life expectancy for Nigerians was placed at 55 years and 54 years after the outbreak of the coronavirus. Okoye said, he was able to understudy this, to outline some pocket of reasons behind the low life expectancy in the Country as lack of health information and not primarily as a result of poor infrastructure.
He observed that the problem of lack of health information can be linked to the fathers of medicine, who in an attempt to have monopoly, formed a fraternity and this fraternity is based on keeping the knowledge within their circle. So according to him, they translated the medical terminology in a way that a common man can not understand or access medical information.
“If you look at the dictionary, the longest word is a disease with 45 letters. Doctors speak in such medical languages that patients do not understand, they write in some form of shorthand, leaving the patient confused. So, the patient becomes vulnerable to all kinds of advise.
“Every sick person is desperate to get well. The next one, someone will say drink this one and regrettably, those who will say no, will fall victim of the spiritual merchants we have all over. Everything in our society today, becomes there is one demon, there is one attack and that is the cause of our health care crisis. People don’t place value on their health, that is why we have come up with this very App, called Drsavealife App: Your doctor where there is none. The App is available on Apple playstore for download,” he reiterated.
Okoye, who is also the Chairman of Savealife Medisoft Ltd, a Software Developing Company Based in USA, said they have three servers, to facilitate compartmentalization of information into Voice, data and audio, while a fourth server will be launched in the United Kingdom, in January 2022 to improve capacity to forestall a global shutdown just like what happened to Facebook due to synchronization of all their products.
He revealed that the App, which has active usage in 176 Countries within the first 48 hours after its launch, has the capacity to translate information in Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo, French, Spanish and other languages with its user friendly interface.
The Chairman, of Savealife Group of Hospitals, said the App, will address Maternal and Child health issues as well as serve as a medical encyclopedia.
