Dr Membere-Otaji calls for stronger collaborations between Public/Private Health Sectors, increased funding of Public Health Facilities

Chief Dr. Emi Membere-Otaji, OON, former Chairman, Committee of Commissioners of Health, Nigeria, currently Chairman, Princess Medical Centre and Deputy National President, Nigerian Chamber of Commerce, NACCIMA has called for stronger collaborations between the public and private health sectors and increased funding of public health facilities.

Dr Membere- Otaji made this assertion during the 48th Annual General Scientific Meeting of the West African College of Physicians (Nigeria Chapter) held from Wednesday, 10th July to Friday, 12th July, 2024 in Port Harcourt with the theme: “One Health for Sustainable National Development”.

The NACCIMA National Deputy President and former Chairman of West African Glass Industry Plc who chaired the Annual Dinner event, also called on the various governments to make the environment more conducive for business while medical practitioners should embrace extramural practice and/or medical partnerships with appropriate legal frameworks since funding seems to pose big challenges for most of them, setting up standard hospitals

The event which had in attendance creme’ de la creme’ of Nigeria and the West Africa sub regional public and private health professionals, also witnessed distinguished scholars and physicians engaged in interactive sessions on the need for transformative advancements in medical service research, patient care and health policies across the region.
