A Tennessee mother is currently recovering after 18-year-old Jordan Corter tried to rape her in the middle of the night. The teen was friends with the victim’s son, and had been staying the night when he decided to assault the woman. Luckily, the woman was able to defend herself from the teen, who was later arrested at his home.
Arrest. Jordan Corter is the 18-year-old being charged with sexual battery and attempted rape after he forced his way into his victim’s bedroom in the middle of the night. Corter was staying the night at the home as he is friends with the victim’s son.
Assault. According to the Washington Post, the victim locked herself in her room with all the alcohol in the house before going to bed. At around 2:30 am, Corter knocked on the victim’s door. When the she answered the door, Corter forced his way inside.
Attempted rape. “Jordan forced himself into the bedroom and locked the door behind him,” the victim told authorities. After making his way into the room, Corter then forced his hands down the victim’s pants.
Defense. The woman defended herself and was able to knee Corter to get him off of her. She then grabbed a pistol she had and pointed it at Corter while forcing him to leave the house. It wasn’t until a few days later however, that the victim went to police.
Confession. When cops showed up at Corter’s door, he immediately confessed to what he’d done saying “he basically forced her to do something she didn’t want to do,” and that he “should not be forgiven,” reports the Washington Post.
Bail. Corter has since been released on bail, although it is unclear when his next court date will be. Shockingly, a relative of Corter defended him despite his heinous actions. “He’s a good kid. He just graduated high school,” said the relative, as reported by WREG.
Careful. Locals were shocked to hear about the incident, especially since the neighborhood where they live has been described as a picture perfect community. “You have to watch who you let in your house, I guess. You can’t be too careful these days,” said a local, as reported by WREG.
Others. This isn’t the first time this year that a sleepover has gone wrong. Last month, a 13-year-old girl stabbed her 14-year-old friend after the two got into a fight while they were having a sleepover.
Argument. According to Fox 4, Nylah Lightfoot was stabbed by the unnamed teen, and did not survive. Anntoinette Carter, the victim’s mother, says the girls were on and off again friends. At one point, they got into an argument that led to a physical altercation.
