Port Harcourt, Rivers State – The Chairman of the Independent Newspaper Publishers Association of Rivers State (RIVPA), Gloria Boma Harry, has made a passionate appeal to philanthropists, corporate bodies, and the government to provide substantial support to the Port Harcourt Safe Home.
Harry made this call during a visit to the Safe Home on April 18, where she donated food items and clothing. This gesture was part of the activities marking the Easter celebration and commencement of the transition for the RIVPA State Executive Council under her leadership, with their tenure concluding on May 11, 2025.
Commending the management of the Port Harcourt Safe Home, Harry lauded their efforts in creating a welcoming and secure sanctuary for residents seeking refuge at the facility.
Responding to the donation, the Matron of the Safe Home, Mrs. Margaret Abi, expressed her sincere gratitude to RIVPA for their generosity. Abi explained that the Port Harcourt Safe Home serves as a crucial shelter for vulnerable children rescued from human trafficking, victims of domestic abuse, and missing children.
