
The Alliance Française buzzed with energy on December 1st as the sixth annual Talent Arise competition concluded, celebrating the vibrant creativity and skill of young performers across Rivers State. The event, which aims to empower youth through the development and display of artistic talent, saw dancers sweep the top prizes in a night defined by fierce competition.
Emmanuel Basoene (Dancer) clinched the coveted first prize, demonstrating exceptional command and artistry. He was followed closely by fellow dancer Daniel Samuel, who secured the second position. The top five was rounded out by Godslove Utibe (Dancer) in third place, Tamunonimibo (Singer) in fourth, and Angel Albert Clinton (Story Teller), whose narrative skills earned the fifth spot.
In her address, event organiser Ms. Gloria Boma Harry expressed profound gratitude to the extensive list of sponsors and partners whose support made the 2025 edition a resounding success.
“We are deeply thankful for the trust and confidence placed in our quest to empower the youths through the harnessing of their innate talents,” Ms. Harry stated. “Your partnership is the engine that drives this platform, helping us turn raw potential into professional performance.”
This year’s competition enjoyed robust backing from numerous institutions and corporate bodies, including the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, The Promise, Owens Marine, Alliance Française, Silverbird TV, Rhythm 93.7 FM, and the Africa Update Newspaper, among others.
Looking ahead, Ms. Harry confirmed that the countdown to the 7th Edition of Talent Arise has officially commenced. She noted that the organisation plans to significantly increase engagement in the forthcoming edition, involving more educational institutions and a wider pool of young participants across various creative disciplines.
The success of the 2025 event underscores the vital role platforms like Talent Arise play in providing necessary visibility, mentorship, and professional opportunities for emerging artists in the region.
