Junior Pope: Rivers Govt, Nollywood set to bring back remains of LT Precious Ofurum

Nollywood Rivers State says arrangement for the interment of their member Precious Ofurum, who died alongside Junior Pope and others in a boat accident on April 10th, has been concluded.

Recall that Ofurum, Junior Pope Odonwodo and two others had tragically drowned after their boat capsized in the River Niger in Asaba, Delta state on their way to a movie location.

In an exclusive chat with Africa Update, the Chairman of the Actors Guild, and Festival Coordinator of Rivers International Film Festival, Dr. Ken Osunwa, disclosed that a high powered delegation which he was a part of and also made up of Eric Stephenson (Convener), Kate Ezeigbo (Secretary, Contact/Mobilization) , Mr Mike Ogundu, Mr Thompson Obi, Ms Chika Okereke, Mr Vido, Mr Jobesty and Love Portion who represented a committee of All guild heads and Associations led the Governor of Rivers State H.E Siminalayi Fubara represented by his deputy Prof Ngozi Odu to visit Ofurum’s family.

His words: The recent synergy between the Rivers State Government and Nollywood Rivers State is a welcomed development. The Governor of Rivers State is a compassionate leader whose love for humanity is exemplary has decided to collaborate with Nollywood to ensure that the Late Precious Ofurum is given a befitting burial and resuscitate the Nollywood Industry in the State.”

In another chat, Kate Ezeigbo, said an advance team left the State yesterday to bring back the remains of Ofurum, which is expected to arrive Ubima today for the interment.
