In a moment that has sparked reflection among gospel music circles, Nigerian gospel artist Tim Godfrey has spoken out about his purpose after a video surfaced showing music star Davido dancing to his song at his recent white wedding in Miami.
Godfrey, who recently celebrated his own wedding on August 10th, shared that seeing the mainstream artist connect with his music was a powerful affirmation of his mission. He emphasized that not all gospel artists are meant to be confined to the four walls of the church. Instead, he believes some are called to influence the world and spread the gospel through mainstream channels.
“This really stirred something within me,” Godfrey wrote. “We are called to influence the world and take over it for Christ! I’m not going to play small about my labour for the gospel because the church is yet to see that not all of us are called for the four corners of the church! Some of us are sent mainstream to reach out to the stray.”
He stressed that his mission is to reach people beyond traditional church settings and that he refuses to be limited by labels. “It doesn’t have to sound like church to be God Orchestrated,” he added, declaring his identity as having “NO LABEL but The Gospel!”
The singer’s white wedding was a star-studded affair, attended by notable figures including Dangote, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, Obi Cubana, D’banj, and Uche Jombo, among others.
