Bayelsans knock Diri over Bobby Chant

Some stakeholders in the entertainment industry in Bayelsa State have expressed dismay at the alleged neglect of Afro Pop Singer, Bobby Chant, who recently won double national awards.

Bobby Chant, whose real name is Amos Ongokori Ineididie, had on February 14th, received the National Civic Responsibility Recognition Award and the Civil Responsibility Recognition Award respectively.

The singer becomes the first Bayelsan to be honoured with the prestigious natioal awards by the National Orientation Agency (NOA) for his patriotic song, ‘I love Nigeria’.

However, months after Bobby Chant made the state proud with the recognition, stakeholders of the entertainment industry have expressed concern the Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, is yet to reach out to the singer in his usual tradition of celebrating and encouraging youths of the state.

Mr Ogomugo Marbo, a stakeholder who spoke with Africa Update, insisted that the Governor ought to celebrate Bobby Chant, who shares his historical February 14th swearing in date, as the same date he bagged the national awards this year. Reiterating that such gesture from the governor would spur other youths to go into meaningful ventures.

Marbo further noted that in order to demonstrate to the world that the Ijaw nation is the largest ethnic nationality in the Niger Delta and fourth in the country, with her sons and daughters are doing exceptionally well in the entertainment, Governor Diri, should encourage Ijaw youths to motivate them.

Another entertainer in the state, DJ Abdullah Frank Orianzi believes that Bobby Chant who celebrated the awards in Bayelsa State sometime last month, deserves more from the government, especially for representing and selling Bayelsa State to the world.
