The Rivers State Government has moved against the increment of school fees by all state owned institutions.

The Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike made this assertion during the flag off of the National Union of Rivers State students secretariat at the Rivers State University.

The state governor also assured students of the state University that bursary will be paid after conducting biometrics of eligible students.

He said the biometrics will help curb the practice of submission of names of non existent students and ensure the money gets to those deserving of it.

The governor also promised the students that matters concerning their education will not be politicized which is why he will do everything within his power to ensure that no state owned institution increases their school fees.

While speaking during the fag off, the Vice Chancellor of the Rivers State University, Prof. Blessing Didia, commended the governor and  said the construction of the new secretariat for the students’ union has proven that governor Wike is a student friendly governor.
