The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Y.D. Ahmed, has called for community help towards finding a missing Corps Member, Yahaya Farouk.
Farouk who is currently serving in Ikuru town, in Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State has been declared missing for days.
His last appearance was at a Chinese Company located in the community.
A press statement issued by Caroline Embu, Acting Director, NYSC Information and Public Relations on Wednesday, said security agencies were making tremendous efforts to finding the missing corps member.
The statement said the NYSC DG had also appealed for collective efforts in the search of the missing corps member, Yahaya Farouk.
During his visit to residents of Ikuru town, in Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State, which is the host community of the missing corps member, General Ahmed urged the youths and elders of the community to assist the security agencies in search for the corps member.
The statement continued, “He harped that his administration would continue to appeal for adequate security and welfare of corps members at all times.
“He stated further that it is also the responsibility of residents of corps members’ host communities to provide security and welfare package for corps members serving in their domain.
“The essence of my coming is to appeal to assist us in getting the Corps Member who came for National Service from another state”, the DG said.
The statement added that the youth president of the community, Mr Etete Jerb Anthony and the Ward Secretary, Mr Paul Friday equally mentioned that all efforts made so far by them to ensure safe return of Faruk had been abortive.
“They however promised that search and rescue efforts are still ongoing,” the statement added.
