Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has given his consent to the appointment of Governing Councils for two State owned tertiary institutions.
According to a government special announcement released on February 26 and sighted by Africa Update, the Governing Councils of Rivers State University and Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, comprise of seasoned technocrats and professionals from diverse sectors.
The list has former Justice of the Supreme Court, Hon. Justice Mary Odili, who is the wife of the former Governor of Rivers State, Dr. Peter Odili as Pro-Chancellor/Chairman of the Governing Council of Rivers State University, while Chief Adokiye Amiesemaka, was named the Pro-Chancellor/Chairman of the Governing Council of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education.
The Government Special announcement signed by the Secretary to State Government, Tammy Wenike Danagogo reads in part: His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, Governor of Rivers State, has approved the reconstitution of Governing Councils of the Rivers State University and the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education.
