JAMB discovers another N23 million fraud, as staff claims mysterious fire burns scratch card

Ongoing audit exercise at the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has revealed an alleged burning of scratch cards worth N23 million, in a car accident in Nassarawa State.

Notifying top officials of the board, including the Registrar, Ishaq Oloyede, Nassarawa State JAMB Coordinator, Labaran Tanko,  said “I had an accident on July 3, 2016. I was not the one that packed the cards, because I was rushed to the hospital. They came to pack the burnt scratch cards to the office, but it could not be counted. I have the serial numbers of the cards.”

Further Investigations by JAMB however revealed that the claims about the burnt cards turned out untrue because the cards, which Tanko had claimed got burnt alongside his car in an accident, were used by students in Nassarawa State to register for JAMB examinations.

JAMB authorities explained that it was easy to discover whether the scratch cards were used through simple checks by its officials, this is coming less than a week after JAMB sales clerk, Philomina Chieshe, told JAMB’s Registrar and other officials how a mysterious snake had swallowed N36 million , sales made from scratch card before its abolition.
